Renting your Personal Stuff: It ain’t insured, yo…

Four pairs of feet in a bedNow that the UberX tragedy has brought to light the challenge of using personal vehicles for commercial purposes, the next bit of fun will be renting your place to strangers.  Yay!

I like this response from the Airbnb people, regarding a vandalized San Francisco place.

If all the Vacation Rental By Owner gigs, adopt this, I don’t see any challenges.  (Unless there’s a murder… sick, I know…)  IMHO, go ahead, rent your place, or rent others.

Ignore this OBVIOUS PR firm plant to get people to buy Chubb.  Chubb is an excellent carrier, and if you own a home, you should be either Chubb or Travelers, ESPECIALLY in CA.

Recently, I discussed the NYE UberX Tragedy.  The question is:  Will the Ride Share Companies adopt something similar?  Can they?  It’s possible that the frequency of home damage is relatively small compared to auto accidents.  Again, 2 Carriers I called are “waiting” before they allow Bob to insure his Prius for UberX.

Worst Case scenario:  UberX, Lyft and Sidecar lose their economic edge price-wise, but the idea of “I want a car now” won’t fade.

Convenience stores charge more than supermarkets.  Why?  They’re convenient…

Ride Share?  Change is coming.  House Share?  Carry on.
